A qualified Interior Architect and the driving force behind Design to Renovate, Kim has over 30 years of design and construction experience under her belt. She started her career renovating high end homes on the Natal North Coast of South Africa. After emigrating to New Zealand in 2002, she assisted New Zealand's top architects, designers and developers to source product for their projects from all over the world. Kim also gained a massive amount of experience in the lighting and lighting design space, during this time in her career.
Working with some of New Zealand rich and famous, to large hotels and shopping centers and even super yachts - Kim's experience and knowledge is vast. Kim’s talents have been employed in both residential and commercial projects having held project management positions with the likes of leading brand ECC and has been involved with high profile projects such as Westfield’s Albany and Chartwell properties, and developments with Air New Zealand and SkyCity.
After studying Interior Architecture in South Africa, Kim went on to work as an Architectural Specifier in the paint industry which later led into design and project management roles in both commercial and mid to high end residential projects. Being exposed to superb marketing and international training with world leaders, has given Kim the tools to be an outstanding project manager and design consultant – understanding the importance of budgeting, planning, detailing and client communication.
Organising teams and ensuring project outcomes are delivered to the highest standard, is Kim’s priority. She’s known as a tough task master among some tradespeople, continually driving progress until the project is complete. But it’s that same dedication to achieving the desired result that has also seen those same tradespeople continuing to partner with Kim and her team.
In her Personal life, for Kim, family is number one. Kim and her husband Craig have two talented children, both of whom are involved in polocrosse at a national level and have represented New Zealand. A passion for travel and a growing interest in art, will likely see Kim travelling the art galleries of the world when she retires one distant day in the future. Until then, spare time in summer is spent travelling around the North Island, hauling horse floats and kids to the next polocrosse event and supporting them in every way they can. They’re a sport mad bunch, and Craig’s earlier rugby playing days ensures there’s a close following of rugby come winter time. Go the AB’s!
